Auf dem traditionsreichen Werksgel\u00e4nde im Stadtteil OS-Fledder ist Halle 14 f\u00fcr Automobilgeschichte bestimmt.<\/p>\n<p>Die K\u00e4ferplattform war Basis f\u00fcr viele Karosseriebauer. So wollte auch Wilhelm Karmann Anfang der 50er seine Ideen umsetzen. Mit dem befreundeten Luigi Segre (Inh. der Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin) wurde ein Prototyp gebaut. Produktion abweichend (ungef\u00fcttertes Verdeck, R\u00fcckleuchten, T\u00fcrgriffe, Lampen, &#8230;1500ccm, 44PS). Das gelbe Coup\u00e9 ist das letzte Auto aus 1974. Von 1961-69 lief parallel die Produktion auf Typ 3-Basis, von dem man sich mehr Erfolg erhofft hatte (insges. nur 42.500 <em>gro\u00dfe<\/em> KG-Coup\u00e9 gebaut). Bis 1980 dauerte die Produktion des erfolgreichsten Cabriolets der Automobilgeschichte an. Neben dem Karmann-Cabrio steht auch eine Hebm\u00fcller-Karosserie in der <em>Ahnenreihe<\/em>. Nach erfolgreichem Serienanlauf brannte 1949 die Fertigungshalle bei Hebm\u00fcller in Wuppertal-Barmen vollkommen aus. So entstanden nur 696 VW-Hebm\u00fcller von urspr\u00fcnglich 2.000 geplanten Einheiten, letzte 12 Hebm\u00fcller-Wagen wurden bei Karmann mit noch vorhandenen Teilen gefertigt.<\/p>\n<p>Bei VW verkaufte sich bereits 1974 der Golf gut, also plante man auch das Golf-Cabriolet. 1976 wurde dem VW-Vorstand ein Modell ohne den integrierten \u00dcberrollb\u00fcgel vorgestellt. Bundespost ein Hochdachkombi (VW-Fridolin) aus einem Teilemix vorhandener Komponeten. Das Chassis lieferte Karmann.<\/p>\n<p>Nicht nur VW arbeitete mit Karmann zusammen, viele namhafte Autohersteller vergaben Auftr\u00e4ge nach Osnabr\u00fcck. Aus dieser Zeit zeugen viele Designstudien und Prototypenfertigungen, teilw. mit unterschiedlichen Details an den Seitenlinien rechts und links, z.B.
